The Overlord Dominion, an empire built upon conquest and submission, had pushed its forces deeper into The Velmara System. Velmara known as Velmara’s Reach was more than a planet, it was a bastion of resistance one of the last free outposts standing between the Dominion and their dominance over the sector.
The planet’s significance lay in its hyper gate relay, a network capable of launching fleets across multiple star systems in minutes. If The Dominion captured it, they could flood surrounding systems with warships cutting off entire civilizations from aid and supplies.
The defenders knew what was coming, The mighty coalition of The Casualties of Mars,
The Galactic Justice, The Zone Warriors, and The Knights of Karock had gathered their forces preparing for what would be, the most decisive battle of the campaign.
Across the planet’s surface, trenches were carved, defensive grids activated and last-minute fortifications raised. In orbit, battlecruisers formed into strategic positions, creating a wall of firepower to meet the incoming Dominion fleet. The defenders were outnumbered, but were not afraid. Velmara’s Reach was the line, and they would not let it break.
The Dominion fleet arrived in force emerging from hyperspace in pockets of tight formation. Hundreds of star killer warships led by the Dreadnought Tyrannis, bore down upon Velmara’s orbit. Deploying swarms of strike fighters, boarding crafts and siege cruisers, the strategy was brutally simplistic, overwhelm the defenders with sheer immense firepower.
The defenders wasted no time, The Velmara planetary defence grid activated and unleashed a barrage of anti-capital ship weaponry, tearing through the heart of the first wave of Dominion warships.
Explosions rippled across the void as Dominion fighters were caught in the crossfire,
their hulls burning as they spiralled into the planet’s atmosphere.
The battle in orbit escalated into chaotic close-range dogfighting. Zone Warrior strike teams maneuverer between Dominion capital ships, deploying boarding pods to sabotage vital systems. Galactic Justice operatives slipped through Dominion formations, planting EMP charges and launching precision attacks on their command centres.
The Dominion was relentless, their dreadnoughts pressed forward unleashing supercharged plasma arrays, melting through Velmara’s orbital defences.
One by one defending ships were obliterated reduced to burning wreckage in the upper atmosphere and with this, the ground invasion began.
Dominion drop ships descended like a storm of fire, punching through the planet’s outer defences delivering waves of Dominion Death Guard shock troops into the battlefield. Battle tanks rolled across the landscape, deploying towering war walkers armed with pulse cannons cutting down defenders in their merciless advance.
The Knights of Karock clad in ancient battle Armor met them head-on. Wielding reinforced energy blades and plasma-forged Warhammers, they charged deep into the Dominion ranks, crushing their front-line infantry with brutal melee combat.
The Casualties of Mars scattered throughout the battlefield fought with unyielding fury. Snipers eliminated Dominion officers, explosives ripped through their supply lines, whilst their guerrilla fighters launched ambushes from the shattered remains of Velmara’s cities.
The battle waged for hours, shifting from open combat to brutal street-by-street warfare. Every alley every corridor of the planetary capital became a battleground.
The Dominion forces, though technologically superior, struggled against the sheer willpower and defiance of the defenders.
As The Dominion forces began to push deeper into the city it seemed that Velmara’s Reach would fall. The defenders were running out of supplies, reinforcements, and energy reserves. The Dominion’s main force was converging on the hyper gate relay station, the final key to victory, but then, the unexpected happened.
From the dark edges of the system an unknown fleet emerged
The Skybreaker, a rogue Dominion battleship along with defected warships piloted by those who had abandoned The Dominion cause. Without warning they turned their weapons on their former comrades, tearing through The Dominion fleet from behind.
Chaos erupted among The Dominion ranks, their battle formations shattered as their own warships turned against them, creating a window of opportunity for the defenders.
Seizing the moment the defenders launched a final desperate offensive.
The Zone Warriors stormed the hyper gate station, eliminating Dominion control units whilst taking command of the planetary defence grid.
The Knights of Karock fuelled by vengeance led the charge against the remaining Dominion forces, their weapons cutting through the last strongholds of enemy command.
The Galactic Justice unleashed a planet-wide EMP surge, disabling Dominion war mechs, drones, and electronic support systems leaving the Dominion exposed, and vulnerable.
As the dust settled The Dominion forces lay in ruin, their fleet scattered and their ground troops? either annihilated or captured. Velmara’s Reach still stood, but at a terrible cost.
Thousands had died, the planet’s capital lay in ruins, its cities reduced to rubble.
The bodies of fallen warriors both Dominion and defenders littered the battlefield, their sacrifice forever etched, into the soil of Velmara.
Among the defenders, The Casualties of Mars had suffered heavy losses, but their legacy endured. The Knights of Karock stood bloodied, their ranks diminished but their honour intact. The Zone Warriors having fought in the shadows and trenches, vanished into the cosmos once more, returning to the fringes of known space.
Velmara’s Reach may have been saved, but it was not the end of the war.
This battle changed everything, It proved that The Dominion could be challenged and beaten, and that they were not invincible. News of the battle spread across
The Thirteen Star Systems, inspiring resistance movements on countless worlds.
The Dominion, once seen as an unstoppable force, now faced the grim reality of its own mortality, but for those who had fought Velmara’s Reach, It was a symbol of defiance, of sacrifice, of the unbreakable will of those who refused to kneel,
and although the war was far from over, one truth remained unshaken.
The Galaxy may have changed, but the war for its future had only, just begun.
